What is IGAT?
IGAT is a private sector-led voluntary, self-help and self-regulating association composed of Philippine Eel Industry stakeholders. It is organized to promote the interest of the Philippines in general and the eel industry in particluar.
IGAT is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It is a fast growing organization with membership nationwide. It is affiliated with the East Asia Eel Resources Consortium (EASEC) and other eel organizations in Asia to promote trade and species conservation.
The acronym IGAT is a Filipino word for eel.
MISSION
IGAT shall lead in the development of a sustainable Philippine Eel Industry as a major contributor to the Philippine economy through a well-organized private sector working with government and non-government organizations.
VISION
IGAT envisions a progressive, viable and modern Philippine Eel Industry through the proper combination of technology, financing, marketing, oeprations management and regulations.
