OBJECTIVES

1. To promote the Philippines as a responsible, reliable and major supplier of eel in the world by:

 

  • Working together as Team Philippines in promoting Philippine eel in the world market

  • The consolidation of output (production) and inputs (feeds, medicines and equipment) among members of the association to obtain the best prices and terms

  • Voluntary registration of Philippine Eel Industry stakeholders for effective monitoring and control

 

2. To ensure sustainability of the Philippine Eel Industry by:

 

  • Dealing only with registered glass eel suppliers who shall report and comply with catch quotas and regulations

  • Cooperating with other countries in eel species conservation initiatives

  • Actively participating in drafting and lobbying for eel conservation laws and regulations for the protection against over-harvesting of glass and matured eel.

 

3. To advance the long-term profitability of the Philippine Eel Industry by:

 

  • Optimizing revenues through unified and concerted marketing efforts

  • Reducing costs through technology and resource sharing among members

  • Invitation to prospective international buyers and investors to visit the Philippines

  • Collaboration with the Trade and Agriculture Attachés of the Philippines assigned to major eel consuming and producing countries

  • Registration of glass eel traders/catchers

  • Control and monitoring of glass eel and mature eel catch

 

Technology and Management Support

 

  • Stocks selection and molecular identification of species

  • Disease prevention

  • Survival optimization

Feeds and Inputs Sourcing

 

  • Unified order of feeds, medicines and equipment to avail of best prices and terms
